Why the landing page and app saw different users

Found an identity break and inconsistent browser/server events. Delivered implementation requirements and acceptance checks.

Audit and requirements delivered; subsequent implementation is unverified.

Role of [NERD-METHOD]

Independent analytics audit and preparation of repair requirements, without claiming a subsequent deployment.

01

The original task

A SaaS product with a separate landing page and app was sending events to several systems, but continuity of the journey through activation remained uncertain. The task was to establish which connections worked and where information was lost.

02

What we found

The checks showed that the device identifier persisted between the two surfaces, while the anonymous profile changed at sign-in. The project analysis linked this to clearing state before identification. Adding a shared cookie alone therefore did not resolve the underlying problem. Separately, the client-side and server-side activation events had different names, so they did not form an agreed pair of deliveries for the same fact.

03

What we prepared

We reconstructed the chain from event creation to its destination. For each handoff, we described the identifier, timing, event meaning and duplicate-handling rule. Developers received requirements for the identity lifecycle, event alignment and reproducible QA.

04

What was verified

The case is based on a project audit and technical handoff from July 2026. They record identity observations and differences in event names. The result of that stage was a diagnosis, a proposed repair architecture and a way to verify its implementation.

05

What the evidence covers

The collected sources do not confirm a subsequent deployment of the repairs or a change in conversion. The case is therefore labelled as an audit and developer handoff. Recommendations are not presented as implementation, and no numerical advertising effect is claimed.

06

What this gives the team

The next task is defined through observable behaviour: whether one continuous user journey is preserved and whether the two event deliveries are aligned. This makes it possible to estimate the development and accept it against a check, rather than a note saying a tag was configured.
